It enables them to outline their plans and focus on their long term objectives while making critical decisions for the success of their organizations (Pract, 2009). Notably, pediatric clinics in Atlanta neighborhood rely on the population’s health data to facilitate their strategic planning process. The more than five hundred pediatric clinics acknowledge that Atlanta has low doctor to overall population ratio, hence they encourage their patients to early bookings.
The strategic planning process for a pediatric clinic in Atlanta must consider external factors, which are not controlled by the clinic but affect its success. For instance, the clinic should consider technological advancements in Atlanta since they can directly influence their strategic planning process. The kind of technology to be adapted and used by the pediatric clinic for both diagnosis and treatment in addition to data storage is critical to offering quality care to the consumers of health services. In the planning process, the pediatric clinic has to adopt the best technology that suits the consumers.
On the other hand, the pediatric clinic should focus on internal factors that they can directly control to achieve their goals. For example, the clinic must invest in both human and physical resources. It must ensure adequate staffing of medical staff including doctors and nurses. It must also provide proper physical resources such as medical machinery and facilities to guarantee their clients quality healthcare.
Causes for failure of a strategic plan vary. Failure to understand the organization's environment, partial commitments, and unwillingness to change can lead to the failure of a strategic plan. First, the pediatric clinic in Atlanta must understand the working environment in Atlanta to overcome.
